Choosing a team-building activity based on your company’s objectives helps avoid a common pitfall: selecting an activity first and then trying to fit it into the schedule. A team-bonding day, an incentive event designed to reward employees, the arrival of new team members, or an opportunity to welcome clients all serve different purposes.

When it comes to wine-themed experiences, the possibilities range from winery tours and masterclasses to cultural discoveries and food and wine pairing meals. In Saint-Émilion, La Maison Cardinale offers several of these experiences. The key is therefore to start with your business objective and identify the experience that best reflects the role you want this shared moment to play.

Start by Defining What the Activity Should Bring to the Day

Before choosing a wine-themed corporate activity, express your main objective in a single sentence.

For example:

Bring a team together for a shared experience after a morning of work.

Thank employees at the end of a project.

Create a shared experience to welcome new team members.

Host clients or partners in a setting different from a business meeting.

This step helps distinguish the purpose of the activity from its assumed benefits.

A tasting, tour, or masterclass provides a common setting and a shared experience. However, it does not, on its own, guarantee improved team cohesion, communication, or employee integration. These outcomes depend on the team’s circumstances and how the event fits into the company’s broader activities.

The activity should therefore be chosen for how well it fits the programme, rather than on the basis of an HR-related promise that cannot be guaranteed.

Objective 1: Create a Shared Experience for Your Team

For a corporate seminar or team-bonding day, the primary goal is often to bring the group together through a shared experience after a working session.

In this context, the activity should provide a natural continuation of the day without feeling like another meeting.

Heritage Day: Combine Work with a Discovery of Saint-Émilion

The Heritage Day is designed around this approach.

It combines:

A morning of work in the private spaces of Château Fleur Cardinale.

A private cellar tour with a wine tasting.

A cocktail-style lunch.

A private guided tour of Saint-Émilion’s underground monuments.

This full-day package accommodates 6 to 20 people, with prices starting from €88 excluding VAT per person.

The appeal of this programme lies in the contrast between its different stages. The team first works together, shares lunch, and then leaves the meeting environment behind to discover the heritage of Saint-Émilion.

This package is therefore worth considering when a company wants the activity to form a substantial part of the day, rather than simply offering a few minutes of wine tasting after a meeting.

For a Shorter Programme: Half-Day Performance

When the shared experience needs to fit into a tighter schedule, the Half-Day Performance offers a programme running from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for 6 to 20 people, starting from €48 excluding VAT per person.

After the morning’s working session, the group enjoys a private cellar tour with a wine tasting, followed by a cocktail-style lunch.

This format is particularly suited to companies wishing to retain a substantial working session while concluding the half-day with a shared wine experience.

Objective 2: Reward a Team or Celebrate an Important Milestone

A corporate incentive event does not serve quite the same purpose as a working day.

It may take place after achieving a target, at the end of a project, to celebrate a company anniversary, or to mark a particular milestone in the company’s development.

In this situation, the distinctive nature of the experience becomes more important.

Signature Day: Incorporate La Mélodique into a Corporate Day

The Signature Day combines a morning of work, a cocktail-style lunch, and La Mélodique, La Maison Cardinale’s wine and rock music masterclass.

During this experience, participants taste four vintages of Château Fleur Cardinale while listening to four songs. La Mélodique received a 2026 Best of Wine Tourism Gold Award in the Discovery and Innovation category.

The Signature Day accommodates 6 to 20 people for a full day, with prices starting from €133 excluding VAT per person.

This format is worth considering when a company wants to include a professional working session while dedicating a significant part of the afternoon to the experience itself.

La Mélodique as a Standalone Incentive Activity

If no working session is required, La Mélodique, also presented as The Melodic Tour, can be booked as a standalone visit.

The experience lasts 2 hours, accommodates 2 to 8 adults, and costs €85 per person.

The choice between the Signature Day and La Mélodique on its own therefore depends on the programme: in one case, the experience complements a corporate day; in the other, it is the activity itself.

Objective 3: Welcome New Team Members

Welcoming new employees can be an opportunity to organise a shared activity, particularly when a company wants to create an initial informal gathering outside the office.

In this context, it is preferable to choose an experience that requires no prior knowledge of wine and allows everyone to discover the subject together.

La Cardinale: An Accessible Discovery Experience for Small Groups

La Cardinale, presented as The Cardinal Tour, offers the most straightforward introduction among the visits available at La Maison Cardinale.

The tour introduces visitors to the Maison’s sensory spaces and its connection with the art of dining, before a tasting of three wines, including one white wine.

It lasts 1 hour, accommodates 2 to 10 people, and costs €40 per person.

For a small team, this format provides a shared topic of interest without turning the activity into a technical workshop reserved for wine enthusiasts.

When a Meeting Is Included: Choose a Seminar Package

If welcoming new employees forms part of a day that also includes a company presentation, workshop, or team meeting, a seminar package will be more appropriate.

The Half-Day Performance, for example, allows companies to keep the morning for professional activities before sharing a cellar tour, wine tasting, and cocktail-style lunch.

The activity then complements the onboarding programme rather than replacing it.

In both cases, expectations should remain realistic: the experience creates a shared moment among participants, but successful employee integration develops over time and does not depend on a single activity.

Objective 4: Welcome Clients or Business Partners

Hosting clients is not strictly speaking an internal team-building activity. Nevertheless, the same wine-themed experiences can form part of a client relationship programme, provided the format is adapted to the objective.

The time available for conversation, the level of personal attention, and the role of the meal then become particularly important.

La Gastronomique: Extend the Visit with a Meal

La Gastronomique combines a guided cellar tour, an aperitif tasting, and a food and wine pairing meal in the Salle à Manger.

The chef accompanies the group throughout the meal and presents the selected pairings.

The experience lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes, accommodates 8 to 20 people, and costs €155 per person, by reservation only.

It includes the La Cardinale tour, an aperitif tasting, two starters, a main course, a dessert, and three glasses of wine.

This format is worth considering when a company wants to allow sufficient time for a reception that combines discovering the estate, sharing a meal, and engaging with its guests.

L’Extraordinaire: An Experience for a Smaller Group of Guests

For a smaller group, L’Extraordinaire, presented as The Extraordinary Tour, offers a different approach centred on wine, family porcelain, and the French art of living.

The experience lasts 2 hours, accommodates 2 to 8 people, and costs €145 per person.

It includes a private tour and a tasting of three wines.

Its limited group size makes it an option worth considering when a company is hosting just a few clients or partners and is looking for a standalone experience rather than a seminar.

Which Activity Should You Choose Based on Your Company’s Objectives?

Main objective

Experience to consider

What the format offers

Team-bonding day

Heritage Day

Work, lunch, and a shared cultural experience

Short team activity

Half-Day Performance

Work followed by a cellar tour, tasting, and cocktail-style lunch

Reward a team

Signature Day

A professional working day complemented by La Mélodique

Incentive event without a meeting

La Mélodique

A standalone wine and rock music masterclass

Welcome new employees in a small group

La Cardinale

An accessible introduction requiring no prior expertise

Onboarding with a working session

Half-Day Performance

A meeting followed by a shared experience

Host clients over a meal

La Gastronomique

Tour, tasting, and meal

Host a small number of clients

L’Extraordinaire

A private experience for a small group

These recommendations deliberately start with the company’s objectives.

To compare the experiences according to duration, group size, and level of participation, the article “Wine Team Building Near Bordeaux: Which Experiences Should You Choose?” offers a complementary perspective.

What If the Day Has Several Objectives?

A corporate event can naturally serve several purposes.

A company may wish to work in the morning and thank its team in the afternoon. An annual meeting may also provide an opportunity to welcome new employees while bringing together existing team members.

In this case, establish a clear priority.

If the working session is intended to structure the day, start by exploring the Seminars and Conferences packages, then choose the experience that best complements the programme.

If the experience itself is the main objective, a standalone visit may be sufficient.

Establishing this hierarchy helps avoid overloading the programme and also makes it easier to request a quote: the venue’s team can immediately understand whether they need to organise a seminar, a standalone activity, or a bespoke programme.

What Are the Limitations of Wine-Themed Team Building?

A group activity can provide a setting outside the office, a shared topic of interest, and an opportunity to spend time together. However, it should not be presented as an automatic solution to management challenges.

A wine tasting does not resolve an internal conflict. A tour alone is not enough to ensure the long-term integration of a new employee. Similarly, an incentive activity does not replace a company-wide approach to employee recognition.

The role of the experience is more specific: to give structure to the shared moment the company has chosen to organise.

Recognising this distinction makes it possible to select an activity based on practical criteria and create a coherent programme without attributing benefits to it that cannot be guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions About Choosing a Team-Building Activity

Which Activities Should You Choose for Wine-Themed Team Building?

The choice depends primarily on the objective. To combine work with a shared experience, the seminar packages make it possible to include a cellar tour, a discovery of Saint-Émilion’s heritage, or the La Mélodique masterclass. For a standalone activity, the visits offered by La Maison Cardinale provide a range of wine-themed experiences.

What Can the Objectives of Team Building Be?

A company may want to create a shared experience, mark a milestone, reward a team, or welcome new employees. The objective should be defined before choosing the activity in order to create a coherent programme.

Which Activity Should You Choose to Reward a Team?

When a company wants the experience to play a significant role in the event, La Mélodique can be incorporated into the Signature Day or booked separately for a smaller group. The choice depends on whether the programme includes a working session.

Does a Team-Building Activity Necessarily Improve Team Cohesion?

No. An activity creates a shared experience, but its impact on team dynamics depends on many factors specific to the company. No single format can guarantee improved team cohesion on its own.

Can You Book Just the Activity, Without a Seminar?

Yes. La Maison Cardinale’s visits can be booked independently of its seminar packages. Each experience has its own duration, group capacity, and booking conditions.

Can You Create a Programme Different from the Packages Offered?

Yes. La Maison Cardinale indicates that it can consider private bookings, hybrid formats, and bespoke programmes when an event does not fit one of its standard packages. The arrangements should be discussed when requesting a quote.

Choose Your Experience at La Maison Cardinale

Before contacting the venue, define your main objective, the number of participants, and the role the activity should play in the programme.

La Maison Cardinale then offers two main possibilities: incorporating the experience into a Seminars and Conferences package or booking one of the visits available at the estate.

For a specific project, you can then contact La Maison Cardinale to share your objectives, the composition of your group, and the type of event you have in mind.

Organising an executive committee off-site near Bordeaux is not simply about moving a meeting out of the office. For an executive committee to be able to work effectively, the venue must serve a programme that has already been defined: objectives, participants, topics, decision-making sessions, breaks and logistics. Here is a practical method for preparing the day without letting the setting take precedence over the work.

1. Start with the expected outcome of the executive committee meeting

Before looking for a venue, define what the day needs to produce. An executive committee meeting can be used to make budget decisions, approve a roadmap, prepare a launch, address an organisational issue or make several decisions that require the presence of the same senior managers.

Write the expected outcome in one sentence and distinguish the topics that require a decision from those that are simply for information. This distinction avoids filling the agenda with presentations that could be shared before the meeting.

For each item, specify three elements: the person responsible for the topic, the time available and the expected outcome. A session may conclude with a decision, a list of actions, a decision to be pursued further or shared information. The venue does not replace this preparation.

2. Define precisely who needs to be present

An executive committee off-site remains a working meeting. The list of participants must therefore be based on the decisions to be made, not on the venue’s maximum capacity. La Maison Cardinale’s seminar packages are designed for groups of 6 to 20 people, which corresponds to the small-group formats covered in this series of content.

Also check who will participate in only part of the day: a finance director for a decision, a project manager for an operational update, an external speaker or a facilitator. If some participants arrive or leave during the day, include these movements in the schedule and reception arrangements.

3. Define confidentiality requirements before booking

An executive committee meeting may cover sensitive topics. Confidentiality must therefore be translated into practical questions to ask the venue: which spaces are reserved for the group, who can access them, what are the privatisation conditions and how are catering periods organized in relation to the working spaces.

La Maison Cardinale allows its spaces to be privatised and can create a tailor-made event. For a strategic meeting, ask for the quote to specify the exact spaces reserved and the conditions applicable on your date.

4. Build the agenda before choosing the activity

The activity should not determine the work program. Start by scheduling the topics that require the most attention and decision-making, then position lunch, breaks and the afternoon experience around these blocks.

A simple schedule can alternate between four types of sessions: short information, discussion, decision and summary. Avoid excessively long blocks without a break and allow a few minutes of buffer between important sessions. This buffer can absorb a discussion that runs over without shifting the entire day.

La Maison Cardinale’s Seminars and Conferences packages combine working time with catering and then, depending on the package, an experience. The work program remains the responsibility of the company or the person facilitating the executive committee meeting.

5. Choose an off-site setting without making access complicated

The main point to watch when choosing a meeting venue is the balance between getting away from the usual environment and accessibility. A venue that is too far away turns a working day into a travel day; a venue that is too close to the office may reduce the sense of change being sought.

La Maison Cardinale is located 10 minutes from Saint-Émilion, approximately 1 hour from Bordeaux and 1 hour 15 minutes from Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. Saint-Émilion and Libourne train stations are respectively 11 and 20 minutes away by car. The site has 38 parking spaces, one space for a tour bus and an electric charging station.

Before informing your teams, define one set of arrival instructions: address, welcome time, recommended mode of transport and arrangements for the final part of the journey for participants arriving by train.

6. Check the room and working equipment

For an executive committee meeting, the room must be assessed as a working tool. Check the furniture configuration, screen visibility, Wi-Fi connection and the possibility of projecting documents without reorganising the room at the last minute.

The Seminars and Conferences page notably mentions a high-speed Wi-Fi connection, a video projector and its stand, a projection screen, a Yamaha Stage Pass Amplifier-speaker system and two wireless microphones. Confirm in the quote the equipment actually planned for your format.

If an external speaker facilitates all or part of the meeting, provide their technical requirements in advance. La Maison Cardinale provides the venue and the planned equipment; the agenda and its facilitation remain the responsibility of the company.

7. Treat breaks and lunch as elements of the schedule

Lunch and breaks are not neutral time slots. They must be included in the schedule from the outset to prevent an overly long service or a poorly anticipated transition from reducing the time devoted to decisions.

Identify dietary requirements and allergies before confirming the number of participants. La Maison Cardinale’s services may include a lunch cocktail or a lunch depending on the format, with selected partners coordinated by the estate team.

8. Choose the afternoon experience according to the day

Once the working time has been finalized, the activity can complement the day. Heritage Day combines working time with a guided tour of the underground monuments of Saint-Émilion. Signature Day combines working time with the “La Mélodique” masterclass.

Heritage Day: from €88 excl. VAT per person, for 6 to 20 people, for a full day.

Signature Day: from €133 excl. VAT per person, for 6 to 20 people, for a full day.

The choice should not be presented as a lever for the committee’s performance. It is a program choice: discovering local heritage on one side, a guided wine experience on the other.

9. Points to check before booking

Is the objective of the day expressed in one sentence?

Does the list of participants genuinely correspond to the decisions to be made?

Have confidential topics and privatisation conditions been defined?

Does the agenda distinguish between information, discussion, decision and summary?

Are break, lunch and transition times included in the schedule?

Have the room configuration and equipment been confirmed?

Have access arrangements and the final journey from the train station been organised?

Have allergies and dietary requirements been identified?

Is the activity scheduled after the working time without reducing the decision-making sessions?

Does the quote specify the spaces, schedules, services and responsibilities of each party?

Frequently Asked Questions About Organising an executive committee Off-Site near Bordeaux

How many people can an executive committee meeting at La Maison Cardinale accommodate?

The seminar packages accommodate 6 to 20 people. This format corresponds to the small groups, executive committees and management meetings presented on La Maison Cardinale’s Seminars pages.

Can the venue be privatised for an executive committee meeting?

Yes. Privatisation is possible depending on the selected format. For a confidential matter, ask for the relevant spaces and the exact conditions to be specified in the commercial proposal.

Can we keep our own agenda and facilitator?

Yes. The venue provides the spaces, equipment and planned services; the work program remains that of the company. An external speaker or facilitator can be included in the arrangements.

Should we visit the spaces before booking?

A visit is recommended before making a decision. It allows you to check the room configuration, circulation, confidentiality conditions and the suitability of the spaces for the planned program.

Which format should be chosen for a full-day executive committee meeting?

Heritage Day and Signature Day both accommodate 6 to 20 people for a full day. The decision mainly concerns the experience planned after the working time.

Prepare Your executive committee meeting at La Maison Cardinale

An effective quote request should already include the key information: proposed date, number of participants, schedule, indicative agenda, confidentiality requirements, technical requirements, catering and desired activity. You can then contact La Maison Cardinale to confirm the configuration and arrange a visit.

An executive committee or management meeting does not need a large meeting space. A small-group format changes the nature of the discussions: greater confidentiality, easier participation and simpler logistics. This guide details the criteria that distinguish a small-group seminar from a traditional seminar, and how La Maison Cardinale meets these needs for executive management teams and the executive assistants responsible for organising them.

A format that protects the confidentiality of discussions

An Executive Committee often addresses sensitive topics: budget decisions, restructuring or an unannounced project. Confidentiality is not a luxury; it is a working requirement.

A private space, not a marketing promise

A small-group format makes it possible to define confidentiality in practical terms: the scope of the reserved spaces, movement around the estate and the conditions of private use. At La Maison Cardinale, full private use of the estate is possible for this type of event, in addition to the packaged formulas.

What to check before booking

the spaces actually reserved for the group and their access conditions;

the private-use arrangements applicable on the chosen date;

the possibility of keeping the work programme confidential until the day of the event.

A small-group meeting changes the dynamics of discussions

Reducing the number of participants directly changes the way a meeting unfolds. With 6 to 20 people, each person has more speaking time than in a larger group. Discussions take place directly, without the coordination time required for a large group.

This observation says nothing about the outcome of a meeting: it describes how the format works, not a guarantee of managerial performance. Choosing the venue does not replace preparing the agenda, which remains the responsibility of management.

Simpler logistics to organise

Less equipment, less coordination

A small group requires a lighter setup: a single room is often sufficient for the entire programme, without extensive sound equipment or the need to manage several spaces at the same time. The furniture can be reconfigured more easily between a U-shaped working session and a seated lunch.

More predictable timing

With the number of participants known in advance, breaks and transitions between working sessions are easier to schedule than with a large group whose schedules may vary.

Easy access to organise

For an executive assistant coordinating senior executives’ travel, ease of access matters as much as the venue itself. The estate is located 10 minutes from Saint-Émilion, 1 hour from Bordeaux and 1 hour 15 minutes from Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. Saint-Émilion train station is 11 minutes away and Libourne station is 20 minutes away, with frequent connections from Bordeaux. The estate has 38 parking spaces, a space for a bus and an electric vehicle charging station.

What schedule should you plan for a small executive committee meeting?

For an executive committee, the pace matters as much as the duration. The programme should focus on the topics that require the presence of decision-makers and limit unnecessary transitions, without allowing the venue to impose its own schedule.

Divide the agenda into identifiable blocks: information, discussion, decision-making and summary. Assign a duration and a person responsible for each session. Breaks, lunch and any optional activity should remain clearly separate from decision-making periods. They structure the day, but do not replace the committee’s work and do not guarantee any managerial outcome.

Criteria to check when choosing a venue for a management meeting

Actual capacity suited to a small-group format, neither oversized nor too limited (6 to 20 people).

Confidentiality to be defined: private use available, scope of the reserved spaces and access conditions.

Easy accessibility for participants and straightforward organisation for the person coordinating the travel arrangements.

Professional equipment: high-speed WiFi connection, video projector, projection screen, amplifier and two wireless microphones.

A single point of contact to coordinate the room, catering and programme, rather than several service providers to synchronise.

The formulas suited to small groups at La Maison Cardinale

The three Seminars and Conferences formulas at La Maison Cardinale welcome 6 to 20 people. Two of them directly meet the needs of an executive committee or management meeting.

Signature Day: the format identified for Executive Committees

From €133 excl. VAT per person · 6 to 20 people · full day.

This formula combines a morning of work, a lunch cocktail and the “La Mélodique” masterclass, a music-guided tasting awarded a Best of Wine Tourism Gold 2026. La Maison Cardinale identifies it as the formula suited to Executive Committees, management teams and small groups.

Discover the Signature Day

Heritage Day: for a management meeting with a cultural highlight

From €88 excl. VAT per person · 6 to 20 people · full day.

The programme combines working time, a lunch cocktail and a guided tour of the underground monuments of Saint-Émilion with an expert guide. La Maison Cardinale positions it in particular for management meetings.

Discover the Heritage Day

How to choose between the two

The choice depends more on the objective of the day than on the budget. A management meeting focused on discovering the venue and its heritage is better suited to the Heritage Day. An Executive Committee looking for a more distinctive experience to talk about afterwards is better suited to the Signature Day. In both cases, the morning working session follows the same principle: the difference lies in the afternoon activity.

What is included, whichever formula you choose

Contemporary furniture, table service (Limoges porcelain, professional glassware), audio and video equipment, high-speed Wi-Fi connection and a single point of contact to coordinate the event. An external host or facilitator can also take part: the venue provides the space and equipment, while the work programme remains entirely yours.

Frequently asked questions

What is the capacity for a management meeting?

The seminar formulas welcome 6 to 20 people, a format designed for Executive Committees and small groups.

Can we visit the venue before booking?

Yes. A visit to the spaces is recommended before making a decision. It allows you to check the room configuration and confidentiality conditions on site.

Can we keep our own work programme without a speaker from the venue?

Yes. La Maison Cardinale provides the room, equipment and catering; the agenda and its facilitation remain the responsibility of management or the executive assistant organising the meeting.

Organising a wine team building experience near Bordeaux raises a simple question: which package should you choose? Group size, time available and the desired level of participation point to very different experiences. This guide compares the formats offered by La Maison Cardinale in Saint-Émilion, to help HR teams, office managers and event agencies choose the experience best suited to their group.

Three criteria for choosing your experience

Before comparing the different formats, three criteria shape the choice.

Group size

La Maison Cardinale’s seminar packages welcome 6 to 20 people, a format designed for project teams, management committees and small groups.

Time available

Three durations structure the offer: the half-day (9:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.), the full day (approximately 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.) and the standalone visit (1 to 2 hours), with no work session. The choice depends on the team’s actual availability and the place the team building activity occupies within the programme — whether it is a standalone moment or an extension of a seminar.

Desired level of participation

Some experiences remain guided and contemplative, such as a guided cellar tour. Others involve the group more actively: a visit to the underground monuments of Saint-Émilion, or a masterclass where each participant tastes and compares four wines while listening to music. The level of involvement expected from the team is a criterion in its own right.

Comparing La Maison Cardinale’s team building formats

The three packages below combine a work session in the private spaces of La Maison Cardinale, at Château Fleur Cardinale, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, with a wine experience in the estate’s cellar. They differ in their duration, price and the type of experience offered in the afternoon.

Half-Day Performance: express team building

From €48 excl. VAT per person · 6 to 20 people · 9:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

The Half-Day Performance combines a morning of work with a private cellar tour, ending with a guided tasting, followed by a cocktail lunch. It is the shortest format: it only involves the teams for half a day, without taking up an entire day in their schedule.

Ideal for: quarterly meeting, project launch, workshop, short team-building session.

Heritage Day: team building and cultural discovery

From €88 excl. VAT per person · 6 to 20 people · full day

The Heritage Day extends the morning of work and cellar tour with a private visit to the underground monuments of Saint-Émilion, accompanied by an expert guide. Saint-Émilion, its vineyard and its landscape are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site: this package allows the team to discover a confidential part of the town, outside the usual setting of a seminar.

Ideal for: team-building day, annual seminar, extended management meeting, launch day.

Signature Day: the immersive wine and rock experience

From €133 excl. VAT per person · 6 to 20 people · full day

The Signature Day is the premium package. After the morning of work, the cellar tour and the cocktail lunch, the team experiences the La Mélodique masterclass: two hours of guided tasting of four vintages of Château Fleur Cardinale, paced by the active listening of four rock songs. This experience, awarded a Best of Wine Tourism Gold 2026 in the Discovery and Innovation category, exists nowhere else.

Ideal for: executive committee, management team, small group or professional event that you want to make memorable.

All three packages include the equipped room, audio and video equipment, high-speed Wi-Fi connection and a single point of contact to coordinate the event. The prices shown are indicative starting prices: a personalised quote is prepared according to the size of the group and any additional services.

A smaller group or a standalone activity?

For a team that is not looking for an integrated work session, or for a smaller group, the visits at La Maison Cardinale offer an alternative without the seminar component. Several experiences are suited to a team-building moment in a small group:

La Panoramique — €65, 1 hr 30 min, 2 to 10 people: an outdoor walk through the vineyard with a tasting, accompanied by a guide.

La Mélodique (as a standalone visit, outside the seminar package) — €85, 2 hours, 2 to 8 people, adults only: the wine and rock masterclass, without the work session.

La Secrète — €100, 2 hours, 2 to 6 people: a technical and interactive immersion into the production of fine wines, concluding with a blind tasting.

L’Extraordinaire — €145, 2 hours, 2 to 8 people: a multisensory experience centred on wine and the Maison’s family porcelain heritage.

These formats are suitable for smaller groups than the seminar packages, or for a team looking for a standalone activity to complement a programme organised elsewhere.

FAQ: wine team building near Bordeaux

Which activities should you choose for a wine team building event?

It depends on the time available and the desired level of involvement: a guided cellar tour for a short and accessible experience, a guided cultural visit for a heritage discovery, or a tasting masterclass for a more immersive and sensory experience.

Where can you organise a team building event near Bordeaux?

La Maison Cardinale is located approximately 10 minutes from Saint-Émilion, 1 hour from Bordeaux, 1 hour 15 minutes from Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport and 11 minutes from Saint-Émilion train station. No regular public transport line serves the estate directly.

What is the suitable number of participants for a team building event at the estate?

The seminar packages welcome 6 to 20 people.

Can the schedule of the day be adapted?

Yes. The proposed schedule is a standard format. The content, pace and speaker for the work session remain entirely flexible; the balance between work, lunch and the experience can be adjusted within the available time slots for the cellar tour and visits.

Does a wine team building activity guarantee an effect on team cohesion?

No, and no package can promise a guaranteed effect. These experiences provide a shared collective moment outside the usual working environment. Their effect on team dynamics depends on many factors specific to each group and cannot be guaranteed.

Organise your team building at La Maison Cardinale

Three formats, one setting: the private spaces of Château Fleur Cardinale, La Maison Cardinale’s Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé. From the cellar tour of a Grand Cru Classé to the award-winning La Mélodique masterclass, each package adapts to the size of the group, the time available and the desired level of experience. Request your quote: a single point of contact coordinates your entire event.

Choosing a seminar venue near Bordeaux involves much more than finding a room available on the right date. Location, capacity, layout, equipment, meal breaks, activities, budget: seven criteria determine whether a venue is truly suitable for your event. This guide details each of them and shows, with supporting examples, how a wine estate such as La Maison Cardinale meets these requirements. It is intended for office managers, HR teams and event agencies shortlisting a venue for a corporate seminar.

Use this checklist in the order that best matches your constraints. If the date is the priority, start with location and availability. If the budget determines everything else, go directly to this criterion before comparing venues with one another.

Location: an accessible venue, not just a nearby one

A seminar venue near Bordeaux must reconcile two opposing requirements: a change of scenery and ease of access. A venue that is too remote discourages participation and complicates logistics on the day of the event. Conversely, a venue that is too urban does not offer teams a break from their everyday environment: one of the most common objectives of an off-site seminar.

Saint-Émilion illustrates this balance. The vineyards are located approximately 1 hour by car from Bordeaux, 1 hour 15 minutes from Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport and 20 minutes from Libourne train station, which is served by frequent connections from Bordeaux. On site, check the parking facilities: at La Maison Cardinale, 38 car parking spaces, one bus parking space and an electric vehicle charging station are available. For a seminar in a château, accessibility for people with reduced mobility should also be checked before booking — a point often overlooked during the shortlisting stage, and confirmed here by the Tourisme et Handicap label.

Capacity: match the venue to the size of the group

The number of participants is a natural filter when choosing a suitable venue. A room designed for 50 people works poorly for an executive committee of 8. Conversely, a venue limited to 15 people automatically rules out larger-scale seminars.

At La Maison Cardinale, the seminar packages accommodate 6 to 20 people, a format designed for executive committees, project teams and small groups, not for conventions involving several hundred employees. Before any shortlisting, compare the stated capacity with your actual number of participants, not with a broad estimate: an unusual seminar venue for a small group often prioritises the quality of the experience over the size of the group. Also qualify the group beyond the simple headcount: level of seniority, accessibility requirements, and any remote participants.

Layout: does the room adapt to your format?

A seminar room in Bordeaux should be assessed by its flexibility, not just its size. U-shaped meeting layout, theatre-style setup, breakout workshops: the furniture must follow the programme, not the other way around.

Systematically check:

the flexibility of the furniture according to the planned format (meeting, workshop, conference);

the possibility of privatising the space, essential for an executive committee or management meeting requiring confidentiality;

the availability of several distinct spaces if the programme alternates between working sessions and informal moments.

A packaged offer, such as the Half-Day Performance offered by La Maison Cardinale, illustrates this principle: a private space for the working session, followed by a winery tour and a lunch cocktail in a different setting.

Equipment: what is non-negotiable

Unsuitable equipment remains the leading cause of problems. Before selecting a venue, confirm the availability of certain items:

a video projector with a screen or projection surface;

a sound system and wireless microphones for presentations;

a high-speed WiFi connection, tested under real conditions and not merely advertised in a brochure;

adapters and connections compatible with the speakers’ computers.

If you plan to bring in your own host or facilitator, confirm in advance that the venue allows this and provides the necessary technical setup. A seminar château in Gironde does not always provide dedicated technical support: ask the question before booking, not on the day of the event.

Meals: an item to define from the shortlisting stage

Lunch breaks shape the day just as much as the work programme. Three moments to anticipate: the coffee welcome, lunch, and breaks.

For lunch, two formats dominate: the lunch cocktail, standing, which maintains the group’s energy and facilitates informal exchanges; the seated meal, more relaxed, suited to in-depth discussions. Also check who coordinates the service. At La Maison Cardinale, catering is provided by selected partners, coordinated directly by the estate team, with a single point of contact for the entire event, rather than a caterer to manage separately from the venue.

List dietary requirements and allergies before finalising the choice of venue: a venue that is flexible on this point avoids many complications on the day of the event.

Activities: what distinguishes an unusual venue from a traditional meeting room

The activity offered is often what distinguishes a memorable seminar from a meeting that has simply been relocated. It is a criterion in its own right when choosing the venue, not simply an end-of-day bonus.

A seminar in a wine château offers experiences that are difficult to reproduce in a room in the city centre:

a private winery tour followed by a tasting, a short format that can easily be incorporated into a half-day;

a guided heritage tour, such as the tour of Saint-Émilion’s underground monuments with a licensed tour guide, for a cultural immersion in addition to the wine experience;

a themed masterclass at La Maison Cardinale, La Mélodique’s music-guided tasting, awarded a Best of Wine Tourism Gold 2026, concludes the most immersive package.

Choose the activity according to the objective of the seminar: team cohesion, a management occasion or a collective reward. A venue that offers several activity formats provides more flexibility than a venue limited to a single experience.

Budget: compare what is actually included

The listed price means nothing if it does not specify what it covers. A “room-only” rate of €200 may end up costing more than a packaged offer at €48 per person once meals, equipment and the activity are added.

Compare venues on an equivalent basis: total cost per participant, all-inclusive. At La Maison Cardinale, packages start from €48 excluding VAT per person for a half-day: equipped room, lunch, equipment and experience included. This benchmark allows you to estimate an overall budget before requesting a personalised quote, rather than comparing price lines that do not cover the same services from one venue to another.

The selection checklist at a glance

Criterion

What to check

La Maison Cardinale’s response

Location

Distance from Bordeaux, access to train station/airport, parking

1 hour from Bordeaux, 1 hour 15 minutes from the airport, 20 minutes from Libourne train station, 38 spaces + electric charging station

Capacity

Actual number of participants vs stated capacity

6 to 20 people

Layout

Flexibility, confidentiality, several spaces

Private spaces, flexible furniture

Equipment

Video projection, sound system, tested WiFi

Video projector, wireless microphones, high-speed WiFi

Catering

Format, point of contact, dietary requirements

Partners coordinated by the team, cocktail or seated meal

Activities

Connection with the seminar objective

Winery tour, heritage tour, masterclass

Budget

Total cost per participant, all-inclusive

From €48 excluding VAT/person (half-day)

How far in advance should you shortlist a venue?

Allow several weeks before the intended date, and longer during periods of high demand. Visiting the spaces before booking allows you to check the capacity, layout and access directly.

Is a château suitable for a professional seminar, not just a private event?

The two criteria are not necessarily incompatible. Saint-Émilion, one hour from Bordeaux, combines a change of scenery with easy access.

How should you compare the budget between several venues?

Look at the total costs for the venue, meals and dedicated activities. A packaged offer makes this comparison easier than adding up separate line items (room hire, catering, entertainment).

Organizing a seminar in Saint-Émilion requires a methodical approach. Objectives, participants, duration, room, catering, equipment, activity: every decision determines the success of the day. This guide provides the complete checklist for knowing how to organize a seminar without leaving anything to chance. It is intended for office managers, HR teams and event agencies preparing a professional event in the Bordeaux vineyards.

Step 1: define the objectives of the seminar

A successful seminar begins with a simple question: what should it achieve? The answer determines everything else — the format, duration, venue and budget.

Clarify the expected outcome

Four objectives appear in the majority of requests:

Strengthen team cohesion after a reorganization or an intense period.

Define the strategy: decisions, roadmap, budget preparation.

Launch a project and align stakeholders from the outset.

Reward teams or mark a milestone for the company.

Write this objective in one sentence. It will serve as a filter for every decision that follows.

Translate the objective into a format

The objective dictates the format. A strategic planning session calls for a small group: Executive Committee, management meeting, small group where everyone can contribute. A project launch works as a workshop. A team-building day combines working time with a shared experience. The seminar logistics follow from this choice, not the other way around.

Step 2: define the participants and budget

Two figures structure the organization of a professional event: the number of participants and the budget per person.

Count and qualify the participants

The number of participants naturally filters the choice of venues. At La Maison Cardinale, seminar formulas welcome 6 to 20 people: a format designed for management committees, project teams and small groups. Beyond simply counting participants, qualify the group: level of seniority, accessibility needs, dietary requirements, remote participants. This information determines the room, catering and equipment.

Estimate the budget item by item

A seminar budget is divided into five items:

the equipped room (rental, furniture, projection equipment);

catering (welcome coffee, lunch, breaks);

the activity or experience offered to the group;

participant transport;

additional costs (external host, printing, signage).

Packaged formulas simplify the equation: a single price per person covers the room, lunch, equipment and experience. At La Maison Cardinale, formulas start at €48 excl. VAT per person for a half-day. A useful benchmark for defining the budget before requesting a personalized quote.

Step 3: choose the duration: half-day or full day

Duration is the first concrete decision to make. Two formats dominate small-group seminars.

The half-day: a short and effective format

A typical half-day runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: a morning of work followed by a convivial moment over lunch. The format is suitable for quarterly meetings, project launches and short team-building sessions. It only involves teams for the morning — a strong advantage for busy schedules. This is the principle of the Half-Day Performance: work in the morning, a private cellar tour and a cocktail lunch to conclude the session.

The full day: work and immersion

A full day adds an afternoon experience to the working session. It is suited to annual seminars, team-building days and Executive Committees that want to make an impression. The pace allows more breathing room: informal discussions over lunch and during the activity often extend the conversations from the morning.

If you are unsure, consider how much actual working time is required. Three hours of effective meeting time do not justify blocking out an entire day.

Step 4: select the room and seminar venue

Choosing the seminar venue brings together most of the decisions to be made. Three categories of criteria help make the choice.

Technical criteria

Always check:

the actual capacity of the room in the planned configuration (meeting, conference, workshop);

the flexibility of the furniture according to the event format;

the equipment: video projection, sound system, microphones, Wi-Fi connection;

confidentiality: a private space guarantees unrestricted discussions, essential for an Executive Committee.

Accessibility

A venue that is difficult to reach has a negative impact on attendance. Saint-Émilion combines a change of setting with straightforward access: Bordeaux is 1 hour away by road, Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport is 1 hour 15 minutes away, and Libourne station is 20 minutes away, with frequent connections from Bordeaux. On site, check parking — La Maison Cardinale has 38 car parking spaces, one bus space and an electric vehicle charging station — as well as accessibility for people with reduced mobility, confirmed here by the Tourism and Handicap label.

The setting

Leaving the company premises changes the dynamics of a group. A seminar in Saint-Émilion places teams in the private spaces of a wine estate, in this case Château Fleur Cardinale, Grand Cru Classé, away from the demands of the office. A change of setting is not a luxury: it is a condition for participants’ concentration and availability.

Step 5: organize the lunch break

Food breaks structure the day. They deserve as much attention as the work programme.

Choose the format

Three moments structure the day: the welcome coffee on arrival, lunch and breaks. For lunch, there are two options: a standing cocktail lunch, which encourages movement and conversation; or a seated meal, which is more relaxed and suited to in-depth discussions. The cocktail lunch is often the preferred option for a seminar: it maintains the group’s energy without interrupting the flow of the day.

Anticipate constraints

Identify dietary requirements and allergies when sending the invitation. Schedule breaks around the work programme, not the other way around: a lunch that runs over cuts into the afternoon. Finally, check who coordinates the different services: at La Maison Cardinale, food breaks are provided by selected partners and coordinated directly by the estate team — a single point of contact for the entire event.

Étape 6 : vérifier le matériel et la logistique technique

Step 6: check the equipment and technical logistics

Equipment failure is the leading cause of problems during a seminar. Your technical corporate seminar checklist:

video projector, stand and projection screen;

sound system and wireless microphones for speeches;

high-speed Wi-Fi connection tested under real conditions;

furniture suited to the format: meeting table, high tables, breakout areas;

adapters and connections for speakers’ computers.

One point that is often overlooked: if you are bringing your own host or facilitator, confirm beforehand that the venue allows it and provides the necessary technical setup. This is the case at La Maison Cardinale: the venue provides the spaces and equipment, while the work programme remains entirely your own.

Step 7: plan an activity to make the seminar memorable

The activity transforms an off-site meeting into a genuine seminar. It is what participants talk about the next day.

Why include an experience in the programme?

The activity serves two purposes. It punctuates the day with a collective moment outside the working environment. It gives the seminar a memorable identity that enhances the event and the work of those organizing it. Placed after the working session, it rewards the group’s effort and brings the day to a close with a shared moment.

What experiences are available in Saint-Émilion?

A wine estate offers experiences that cannot be found elsewhere. Three examples among the services offered by La Maison Cardinale:

a private cellar tour followed by a tasting, included from the half-day formula onwards;

a guided tour of the underground monuments of Saint-Émilion with an expert guide, at the heart of the Heritage Day;

the La Mélodique masterclass, a music-guided tasting awarded a Best of Wine Tourism Gold 2026, which concludes the Signature Day.

Choose the experience according to the objective defined in Step 1: cohesion, reward or management meeting.

Summary checklist: your timeline

2 months before: define the objective, finalize the participant list, set the budget, choose the duration.

6 weeks before: select the venue, visit the spaces, request a quote, book the date.

1 month before: confirm the programme for the day, define the meal breaks and activity, identify dietary requirements.

Week of the event: confirm the final number of participants, send the presentation materials, check speakers’ technical requirements, communicate access information.

Event day: arrive early, test the equipment, welcome the participants — then follow the programme.

FAQ: organizing a seminar in Saint-Émilion

How far in advance should you book?

As early as possible for periods of high demand, from September to December. A visit to the spaces before booking is recommended: it answers most practical questions regarding capacity, configuration and access.

What is the ideal duration of a seminar?

The duration that corresponds to the actual working time required. A half-day (typically 9:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.) is sufficient for a quarterly meeting or project launch. A full day is justified when the programme combines working time and a collective experience.

What activities should you plan during a seminar?

An activity connected to the venue, achievable within the available time and suited to the size of the group. In Saint-Émilion: a cellar tour with tasting, a visit to the underground monuments or a wine masterclass, depending on the objective of the seminar.

Can you organize a seminar in Saint-Émilion without a car?

No regular public transport line directly serves the estates. Saint-Émilion and Libourne stations, respectively 11 and 20 minutes away by car, offer frequent connections from Bordeaux. For the final part of the journey, arrange a private chauffeur or, for groups, a coach transfer.

Organize your seminar at La Maison Cardinale

You now have the method; all that remains is to plan the venue. La Maison Cardinale welcomes your seminars in the private spaces of Château Fleur Cardinale, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, with three packaged seminar formulas for 6 to 20 people: equipped room, lunch, professional equipment and experience included, starting from €48 excl. VAT per person. Request your quote: a single point of contact coordinates your entire event.

Later in the evening, it was also presented with a Global Best Of Wine Tourism Award, celebrating the creativity, commitment, and authenticity of the approach initiated by Caroline and Ludovic Decoster at their estate in the heart of Saint-Émilion.

La Mélodique, a unique experience where wine is brought to life through music

Designed as an encounter between wine and music, La Mélodique invites participants to explore wine as a language of its own, where each note becomes a sensation and each chord an emotion.

Here, there is no technical vocabulary—only the universal language of music, the language of a rock band.
Throughout a masterclass led by the Maison Cardinale team, participants listen to four iconic tracks, each paired with a specific vintage. These musical associations offer a new way to explore notions such as structure, tannin texture, or vintage characteristics, while delving into the story behind each wine.
Participants sharpen their perception, put words to their emotions, and experience wine as a true journey—both sensory and playful.

Book Your Experience

Winner of the Gold Best Of Bordeaux, La Maison Cardinale will now represent the Bordeaux metropolitan area in the global selection for the Global Best Of Wine Tourism Award, which honors the most outstanding experiences worldwide.

A huge thank you to the Great Wine Capitals network for their trust. We’re far from running out of ideas to fulfill our mission of daring to innovate to tell the story of our craft and our wines differently, and thus contribute to building the future of wines from Bordeaux and the world.

La Maison Cardinale is organizing a new evening of literary encounters on Saturday October 25 from 5:00 pm, in partnership with the Mollat bookshop in Bordeaux.

The event features a program of readings, meetings, book signings and wine tastings at La Maison Cardinale. This edition will bring together two major figures of the French intellectual and media landscape: Éric Fottorino and Guillaume Durand .

Their discussions will be moderated by Olivier Mony, literary critic and journalist for La Tribune Dimanche, Sud-Ouest and Livres Hebdo.

After the meetings, Caroline and Ludovic Decoster will welcome guests for a glass of wine at La Maison Cardinale, overlooking the vineyard theater.

Emotions in large format

Château Fleur Cardinale 2023 reveals itself in a final collector’s edition, stepping into the world of cinema.

WINE AND CINEMA

Wine and cinema both share the same relationship to emotions: one reveals them in the glass, the other brings them to life on the big screen.

Just as a cinematheque preserves all the richness of cinema, this magnum holds within it all the complexity and diversity of a winemaker’s year of emotions : from vine to cellar, all the way to tasting.

Now dive into the world of this edition with the launch video: like a movie trailer, it takes you from the vineyards to the studio to discover the box set, magnum, and label from every angle, with the entire La Maison Cardinale team.

THE EDITION IN EVERY DETAILS

It is on the label that the true spirit of this project is revealed: boxing gloves, a dinosaur, a katana… In all, no fewer than ten hidden symbols, each linked to an iconic film from a different cinematic genre.

Each genre is paired with an emotion that finds its echo in a stage of the winemaking process.

At the center of the label, the Decoster family’s knight takes on the look of a cinematic figure, dressed in a white tuxedo that evokes both a spy with a famous code number and the glamour of premiere nights.
In his hand, he holds an award, a symbol of recognition and artistic acclaim in the world of cinema.

This collector artistic work is presented in a magnificent black collector wooden case with a slide that pays homage to vintage movie tickets.

COLLECTOR’S EDITION BEHIND THE SCENE

How did we choose the films?
Which ones couldn’t make it in?

Between inspiration, challenges and nostalgia, join us behind the scenes of our ultimate collector’s edition.

THE CINÉMATHÈQUE EDITION SOUNDTRACK

And because an excellent film cannot be conceived without a memorable soundtrack, we have created a Spotify playlist bringing together all the original soundtracks from our films, as well as those from works we attempted – unsuccessfully – to integrate into our design.
